Christmas is coming…

…but first, my crazy story about participating in Black Friday.

I talked my sister, Emily, to go to Target at 5 a.m. on Friday after Thanksgiving so that I could get the long-awaited TV that Ronny and I wanted to put in our room. There were good sales in the ads, so I decided to be an economist and sacrifice my sleep to save some moulah$$ on a TV. Crazy idea, I know. The doors opened at 5, and Em and I walked in the door at 5:10. By this time the 32” flat screen TV that I wanted were all gone. :( So I settled for a  26” inch that was also on sale.

But I was also able to get my sewing machine that Ronny gave me for my birthday on sale.

thankful...

Tis the season to be thankful.

First, check out this great Thanksgiving e-card: Food a Plenty Thanks to Farmers

What I'm Thankful For:

1) Jesus Christ for dying on the cross for me.

2) My wonderful husband of 67 days.

3) All of my family.

4) Having a job that I enjoy.

5) Our home with no other roommates.

6) That is except for our dog, Hank, who makes us laugh everynight with his playfulness.

7) That NE govt. didn't take the corn farmers investment (or my job!)

8) All facets of agriculture ( #thankafarmer ).

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Weekend project #3

Well, this weekend’s project (more like late Sunday night project) was working on our bare walls! I know some of you have been wanting pictures of our new home, but I really want to get some of the walls how I like them before I post a bunch of pictures. :)

So first, we put up a frame that Ronny’s mom made for us, created from a window frame from their old house and has a picture of the ranch and the Pope siblings when they were little. Very creative and memorable.

Next, we hung my cross collection in the stairwell because I liked the angles with the stairwell and the different shaped crosses. I have collected crosses from lots of different places and I like to display them together.

We got these three stars as a wedding present from our good friend, Greg Klenda, who hand makes them from old barn wood.

Ronny was glad too as he was able to put his new ladder to use. :) Christmas lights next?!

Weekend project #2

Our second weekend project enlisted more help than the post rock!

Ronny’s brother, Russell and his wife, Misty, came up this Halloween weekend. First, Misty and I carved pumpkins while the boys watched football.

And we played Apples-to-Apples!

And we had them help us put up a new cabinet in our laundry room! It makes this room look so much better and more storage is always great!

Oh yeah, Hank helped too. :)DSCI0085

Weekend project #1

My brother and sister-in-law got us a limestone postrock for our wedding present, so our first home improvement project was putting the rock in our front yard….but we had to enlist a little help because this was a heavy rock!
