Summer update

This post is way overdue, but there have just been other priorities lately. But I wanted to post a few pictures of what we've been up to and how big Chisum is getting!

He is now 22 months old - so we are starting to think about the Big 2nd Birthday party.

Ronny made Chisum a swing set and he is loving it.

We've spent some time in Kansas with family at birthday parties, visiting new cousin Bret, flying to Auntie Em's and family time with Nana and Papa.

We flew to KC for Emily's birthday and she put on a blood drive in my honor and it was a total surprise to me! The fam pulled it off really well and it was so humbling to me that she would do this on her own birthday. Love you, Em!

We also went to the KC Sporting game and I had fun with these two babes.

We went back to Seward for the 4th of July and loved seeing our friends and the parade and of course, fireworks!

On the ranch we've been enjoying time in our garden and playing outside.

Chisum–11 months

Our precious boy had a busy month as an 11 month old.DSC06219 - Copy

The most significant thing this month was that Chisum started walking! (Being so fast on the move makes it really hard to get clear pictures!)

(This is for Great Grandma Pope, Hope you enjoy the pictures and video!)

We visited Grandpa and Grandma Cinnamon and the rest of the Cinnamon clan in Oklahoma for the family reunion.

We celebrated cousin Kate’s 2nd birthday in Hays, KS with the family and got to swim on the hot, summer day!

Chisum loves to eat! He thought eating corn on the cob was pretty great. He is eating pretty much everything we are, but a few of his favorites are deli meat, cottage cheese, beans, peas and watermelon. Lots and lots of watermelon!DSC06129

Chisum had his first haircut!

We got to play with Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Bailey in Lincoln when we went shopping for a new sewing machine.

We went to the zoo with Morris and Patricia.

Went to our first Nebraska State Fair! I was working, so Ronny and Chisum met me there. He enjoyed celebrating with our friend, Doug, who just retired from the State Fair Board, seeing all of the animals and seeing our brand in the Barn Bar.

We love you, sweet boy!

Captain Chisum’s Chariot

Chisum has earned the nickname, “Captain” from his Nana and Papa Joe. Thus, the grandparents thought the little Captain needed a chariot!DSC05668

I had talked about how a bike trailer would be a lot of fun, and when mom found one at a consignment store, I told her to grab it. On Memorial Day, Ronny got the chariot all hooked up to my bike and we took it for a spin around the cemetery to see all of the flags.

Hank was just as (or more!) excited than Captain!DSC05670

It was fun and Hank was tired! We will be trying the trail, next!

August Garden

The garden is a little bit more out of control since July. But Ronny has had enough and will be “cutting it back” soon. These are his words for pretty much taking it all out! At this point, I don’t care. :)DSC04342

We’ve been enjoying lots of cherry tomatoes, roma tomatoes and cucumbers. DSC04344

Our pumpkins are finally matured and the vines are starting to die off. Notice our one stalk of corn in there? Yes, that was Ronny’s project!

We got four pumpkins out of the deal this year – one ginormous one!DSC04339

And this one grew into the wire cage which made for some interesting markings.DSC04340

Ronny harvested them last night. And decided to proudly display them on our front porch. I did remind him it is still August, but he thought it was close enough to fall to display. Oh goodness. :)

And we both had to display our prize “punkins”.

Lastly, Hank was thrilled with the sweet corn harvest – a raw ear of sweet corn is his favorite treat!
