A trip out West–babies, birthdays & cows

Getting caught up here, we got to spend a quick weekend in Colorado the end of October to celebrate a baby and birthdays!

First, we hosted a baby shower for Ryan and Lindsay – these are the only two pictures I took (because Ronny had the camera – see below). They really gathered a lot of loot for the baby – due December 27 – so be ready to see lots of pictures from this proud aunt!

While the girls were at the shower, Ronny went out to check cows (are you really surprised?!).

Of course Hank went along as well.

It was a great weekend at home with lots of family, lots of celebrating and cheering on the Cats for a K-State win. Not much tops all of that!

Go K-State!

Ronny and I had the awesome opportunity to go to the Iowa State vs. Kanas State football game two weekends ago to cheer on our Cats.

My friend, Claire, is an Iowa State alum and invited us to come down and enjoy the festivities with her in Ames. We stayed with her Friday night and then left for tailgating at 5 a.m. Like early.in.the.morning. But we looked ready to go for the day considering the time!

Why did we get up so early to tailgate? Because you have to get to the Tip Top bar by 6 am for chili and beer to avoid waiting in line! It was so funny to see the bar packed at 6 am – Claire said to get the whole Ames experience we had to go there. She was right!

It was pouring rain in the morning, but we didn’t mind. We tailgated through it and found some really great Iowa State fans to talk with.IMG_0462[1]

Our friends Phillip and Lori came also and scored us free tickets into the game. We are blessed with some great friends!

We also found Crystal sporting her purple and got a good chance to catch up with her. Lori and Crystal pulled out looking great in the rain! We also found my friend, Sara, but didn’t get a picture. :(IMG_0479[1]

It was a fun day and glad we could pull out a win! Our Iowa State friends were still nice to us after the game thankfully.

Lastly, on a K-State note, if you haven’t yet, go check out the K-State Mask videos! Ronny doesn’t find them too funny, but I happen to think they are hilarious. Oh, and go #3 ranked K-State! 7-0!!!

So long

Ronny and I headed south this weekend for the Kappa Alpha Theta open house and got to meet up with my sister at So Long Saloon – a favorite in Aggieville.

We had a fun surprise as we were waiting to be seated…it was K-State Band Day! So the Pride of Wildcat Land Marching Band strolled through Aggieville, along with several high school bands.

Emily was able to get me a ticket to the game and Ronny found a ticket through his friend, so we enjoyed a Wildcat Victory! It was good to be back home with Bill. :)photo

Cotton Bowl 2012

Cotton Bowl-34

I’m finally settling down from the Cotton Bowl.

For Christmas, in lieu of gifts, Ronny and I had the opportunity to go to the Cotton Bowl. Our K-State friend in Seward, Dustin, invited us to go with him and his dad – they had everything set up so why not!

We left Thursday morning, picked up Dustin’s dad in Salina, KS, then headed south to Fort Worth, TX. That evening, we had a great time in the Stockyards listening to Texas Country music and and met up with many K-Staters we knew.

The next day, we headed back down to the Stockyards to check out some of the historic sites.

We ate a great big lunch at Coopers Ole Time BBQ to fill up before heading to the game.

At Cowboys Stadium. It was ginormous – there were 80,956 people attending the game!

Inside the stadium was just as impressive – yet it was frustrating that they partitioned off the stadium so that us – sitting in the west endzone – couldn’t get to my sister sitting in the east endzone. But we saw her on the screen four times – she was a rockstar!

Congrats on a good season, Cats! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to attend a bowl game and cheer on K-State!

Wildcat Weekend

We got to go to the land of purple this weekend – Bill Snyder Family Stadium – for the K-State vs. Texas A&M football game.

And we got to see Bill of course:

And a great 4OT game…heart-wrenching! But so glad the Cat's pulled out with a win. My sister-in-law, Misty (and her hubby who didn’t want in the picture) was there and it was great to get all caught up.

And I had to get this picture…two of my favorite things:

I didn’t realize how much I missed going to the games until we were there.

Go Cats! Check out that score, too.  :)

A wildcat family weekend

This past weekend, Ronny and I traveled to Colorado for the K-State vs. CU football game, and the Frasier Family Reunion. Whenever there is a football game in Boulder, our family tries to get together at the family's dairy farm....I should say, the dairy farm my Great Grandpa Elmer owned, which is now in the middle of Boulder and doesn't resemble a farm at all! What is now on that old farm is a retirement home, condos, a shopping center, a church, a school, and a park with a pond. You can see some of the buildings in the background of the family pictures. Above is pictured the entire family that was able to be present.

My Great Grandpa was a true businessman and saw the potential of that farm to someday be valuable property - now Frasier Meadows. Most of our family are K-State fans, so it made for an easy excuse to get together at the K-State vs. CU games at Frasier Meadows. Now that CU has left the Big 12, we're going to have to come up with another good excuse to get together on the family property.

We also took a few immediate family pictures as the photographer was so gracious to take time and have fun with us. The photographer was Cheryl from Lifetime in Focus as I need to credit her for the photos.

This one, by far, was the most fun!
