The 41 week club

Well, we officially made it to the 41 week club! Not sure to be whether to be excited or frustrated, but God has been granting me patience and we’re so thankful to Him for a healthy baby. A healthy baby that just happens to be too comfy!

38 weeks :: 39 weeks
(We didn’t get a 40 week pic and I need to take one today of 41)
39 weeks-4

Ronny and I decided to go do something fun yesterday together to get our minds off of things and hopefully convince baby to join us. And we didn’t want to leave Hank at home, so we went to Branched Oak Lake and had a picnic then went hiking.

Hank was probably the most excited of all of us.

We had a nice view for our picnic. It was a hot day, but the breeze in the shade kept us cool.

The hike was nice to get out and walk, and tire Hank (and me!) out.

In the evening we went to dinner with Shelley and Katelin, then to the high school football game. It was still a warm evening, but nice to be out and about.

The other good thing about having extra time at home is to finish projects that have been sitting around for a while! I finally “finished” my purple, K-State guest room. Ronny and my diplomas have been sitting framed on the floor for a while – ok a couple of years.

And once I got this awesome custom canvas from my friend, Alicia from our baby shower, I decided it would be perfect in this room. She free-handed this! I also want to give her a shout-out for her photography business – if you’re in the Topeka/Manhattan area she has awesome skills!

Ok, we are really ready for you now, Baby Pope!

Cheering

I’m used to being the one competing in an event, but I was happy to be a cheerleader this weekend for one of my best friends, Melissa, as she completed her first marathon!

Melissa came to Lincoln Saturday night with her husband, Todd, and Patricia and Craig, Ronny and I met up for dinner. It was a fun Theta reunion!DSC03745

Melissa ran with another one of our K-State Theta friends, Danielle, who ran the 1/2 marathon. Here they are at mile 6.
Photo: Way to go gals!!!

Then she went on to run the second half by herself. Here she is at mile 16 – all smiles!

Even mile 23 she is rocking it!

It was a fun day to cheer her on – I’m so proud of her and how far she’s come in two years! You can read her view of the marathon here.

Our weekend

I had a great, relaxing weekend. It started on Friday, first by a great breakfast date with one of my best friends and college dorm roomie – Georgia. She is going back to school for her Masters at K-State.

Ronny and I attended the 100th K-State Cattlemen’s Day on Friday. I was able to hear my major professor speak, as well as see some of my Ag Econ grad school friends.

The rest of the weekend was relaxing at home. Hank of course wanted to be outside more – but it was cold. :(

We did bring him a gift from Manhattan though – and he seemed to like it. :)

A trip out West–babies, birthdays & cows

Getting caught up here, we got to spend a quick weekend in Colorado the end of October to celebrate a baby and birthdays!

First, we hosted a baby shower for Ryan and Lindsay – these are the only two pictures I took (because Ronny had the camera – see below). They really gathered a lot of loot for the baby – due December 27 – so be ready to see lots of pictures from this proud aunt!

While the girls were at the shower, Ronny went out to check cows (are you really surprised?!).

Of course Hank went along as well.

It was a great weekend at home with lots of family, lots of celebrating and cheering on the Cats for a K-State win. Not much tops all of that!

Go K-State!

Ronny and I had the awesome opportunity to go to the Iowa State vs. Kanas State football game two weekends ago to cheer on our Cats.

My friend, Claire, is an Iowa State alum and invited us to come down and enjoy the festivities with her in Ames. We stayed with her Friday night and then left for tailgating at 5 a.m. Like early.in.the.morning. But we looked ready to go for the day considering the time!
IMG_0458[1]

Why did we get up so early to tailgate? Because you have to get to the Tip Top bar by 6 am for chili and beer to avoid waiting in line! It was so funny to see the bar packed at 6 am – Claire said to get the whole Ames experience we had to go there. She was right!

It was pouring rain in the morning, but we didn’t mind. We tailgated through it and found some really great Iowa State fans to talk with.IMG_0462[1]

Our friends Phillip and Lori came also and scored us free tickets into the game. We are blessed with some great friends!

We also found Crystal sporting her purple and got a good chance to catch up with her. Lori and Crystal pulled out looking great in the rain! We also found my friend, Sara, but didn’t get a picture. :(IMG_0479[1]

It was a fun day and glad we could pull out a win! Our Iowa State friends were still nice to us after the game thankfully.

Lastly, on a K-State note, if you haven’t yet, go check out the K-State Mask videos! Ronny doesn’t find them too funny, but I happen to think they are hilarious. Oh, and go #3 ranked K-State! 7-0!!!

Emily in Olathe

Last weekend, Ronny and I got to visit Emily in Olathe! She now has a big girl job, big girl apartment, and just seems so grown-up. Waaahhh. But I’m so proud of her and it’s hard not to see her as the “little” sister when she is doing so many awesome things!

First, we got to visit KAT Nurseries where she works and she gave us a rockin’ tour on the Gator.

Near KAT and where Em lives is this place that she’s always wanted to get RP’s picture by. :)

We also got a great dinner at Jack Stack BBQ.

Shopping was on my to-do list as she lives so close to Legends so Em picked up her new dishes that she ordered. We of course had to watch the AMAZING K-State football game against OU and got to spend some time with one of my best friends, Georgia, who lives very close to Em.

On Sunday, we checked out a new church with Em (which had an orchestra – so cool!) and saw some of Ronny’s family friends from Olsburg – small world!

Thanks again for hosting us, Em, and for the great weekend! We love you!
