End of Summer via Instagram

In many ways I’m sad that Summer is pretty much over. But I do adore Fall, too. I have fun things to look forward to like our anniversary, my birthday, trips to see family and cooler weather.

So here is the end of summer via my Instagram photos.

Food // I put up several quarts of zucchini in the freezer and was given a ton of tomatoes…so I made salsa! I also did my first solo grilling project – kabobs!

Projects // Ronny has a new project: fixing up his childhood pedal tractor. It is now in pieces. I’ve been doing a few sewing projects, including this K-State wine holder.

State Fair // SF consumed my life in August/September. This was my home for two weeks. We also got to see our brand hanging on the Barn Bar wall that we branded last year.

Random State Fair // I supported by Wildcats, my corn farmers who are Huskers and corn-fed beef all on game day! I also got to meet up with a couple friends at SF– and we couldn’t resist not taking note of our Sperry’s.

But when I came home, this little guy was so glad to see me he didn’t let me get up.IMG_0085

Labor Day // I was so grateful for a relaxing day at home on Labor Day to enjoy my coffee.

Flowers // I received some nice flowers from my coworkers when I didn’t feel well.

My favorite // I love these boys!

A memorable weekend

I spent the weekend with one of my best friends, Melissa, helping her celebrate her wedding! Here’s a picture recap of our weekend:

A great winery with the bridesmaids, followed by pedicures.

Devastating flood damage, but the roads were open from Atchison across the Missouri River finally!

Congrats, “Twin”! I’m so very happy for you in finding such a great guy and hope you find marriage as quite the blessing.

2 years

Wow – two years have gone by since Ronny and I were married!

To celebrate, we decided to check out a new winery near Seward/Lincoln, called Prime Country Winery. Since it was during the Husker game, there was no one there. Planned that perfect! So we got the place to ourselves to chat with the winemaker and enjoy some good vino.

Instead of buying gifts for each other, we purchased a new camera. I love the DSLR that I use at work, but didn’t want to invest that much into a camera, so we went with this little number:

It has some of the features  of a DSLR, but is compact!

Happy Anniversary, babe and here’s to many more!

All the pretty vineyards

After leaving Janet's and retrieving our bags in Sacramento, we traveled through Napa Valley (this route) to tour the Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley wine growing regions of Sonoma County. Janet suggested going to the Healdsburg area to tour vineyards and taste wine, so we decided to take the scenic route through Napa just to say we'd been there, then wine tasted in Sonoma County.

We got a great tour from Janet's friend, Matt, who is a winemaker at Mauritson Family Winery in Healdsburg. Here is another winemaker filling the oak barrels after some of the wine has been absorbed. They want to keep the barrels as full as possible with no oxygen. Oxygen is only good for the wine after the bottle is opened and it is ready to be consumed.

We brought home 10 bottles of wine. :)

You can see more vineyard pictures here.
